Biological Clocks in Medicine and Psychiatry

چکیده
adds, and dealt, in part, with the importance of the structure of fatty acids both as components of animal diets and animal tissue and as factors in blood coagulation and thrombosis. The second symposium discussed the newer techniques used to study lipids, especially the recent developments in gas-liquid, liquid-solid, and thin-layer chromatography. From the brief summary given above, it will be obvious that this volume offers an enormous amount of information which will be useful to anyone working in lipid research regardless of his specialized field of interest. But perhaps more important is the information made available to the nonspecialist who wishes to learn about the advances that are being made in this rapidly expanding field and that are beginning to bridge one of the many gaps between biochemistry and physiology per se and clinical medicine.

Biological clocks and the practice of psychiatry
Endogenous biological clocks enable living species to acquire some independence in relation to time. They improve the efficiency of biological systems, by allowing them to anticipate future constraints on major physiological systems and cell energy metabolism. The temporal organization of a given biological function can be impaired in its coordination with astronomical time or with other biolog...
متن کاملEffects of Lycium barbarum. polysaccharide on type 2 diabetes mellitus rats by regulating biological rhythms
Objective(s): Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with circadian disruption. Our previous experimental results have showed that dietary Lycium barbarum. polysaccharide (LBP-4a) exhibited hypoglycemic and improving insulin resistance (IR) activities. This study was to explore the mechanisms of LBP-4a for improving hyperglycemia and IR by regulating biological rhythms in T2DM rats. Mat...

Rhythmicity is a ubiquitous phenomenon. Rhythmic temporal patterns are considered and important factor in therapeutics as effective treatments should work in conjunction with body's clocks. Te concept of chronobiology is well evidenced by the cyclic alterations of dosas in the body. The Ayurvedic way of living as well as healing has been developed keeping in mind these biological clocks so as t...
متن کاملGenetic Biomarkers on Age-Related Cognitive Decline
With ever-increasing elder populations, age-related cognitive decline, which is characterized as a gradual decline in cognitive capacity in the aging process, has turned out to be a mammoth public health concern. Since genetic information has become increasingly important to explore the biological mechanisms of cognitive decline, the search for genetic biomarkers of cognitive aging has received...
